Alexander Baluev was born into a military family.

The Baluevs lived on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment, then moved to Smolenka. Alexander's father was very strict and disciplined, demanding unquestioning submission and obedience from family members. He had high hopes for his son, dreaming that he would choose a career as an officer.
